In 1920 LeRoy, age 9, is living in Provo, UT, with his parents, sister and 5 brothers.
According to the book, Building Hoover Dam: An Oral History of the Great Depression by Andrew J. Dunar and Dennis McBride--Leroy Burt says that "In 1929, at the start of the depression, I was working a little hamburger joint in Salt Lake City called Snappy Service Lunch. These hamburgers sold for a nickel each. That's what I was doing in 1929. In October of 1929 I was married. I was 19 years old. In 1929 I was transferred to manage one of these little hamburger places in Long Beach, CA. Of course, my first baby came along, so we came back to Salt Lake City in early '31. I came on down here (Boulder City) because my father had the contract to plaster the first 12 government houses on Denver Street.

In Memory of Kenneth Cameron Worthen, September 15, 1931 - February 3, 2001
A loving husband and father, a grandpa, a brother, a faithful friend, and a child of the Lord. Psalm 13:5 "I trust in your love. My heart is happy because you saved me." He lived for 69 years; 47 of those years happily married. He was an electrician, an artist, a compassionate and quiet spirited man. He never gossiped or spoke unkindly of others. He was most happy when surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He longed to spend time with his brothers and sisters, he loved to go camping and on cruises to tropical places. He was most comfortable sitting in his lounge chair, petting his dog, and enjoying the company of family and friends. He is missed by all who loved him.

Interview of Dina Day about her father Jack Tullis
Contributed By: Mason Zachary Day · 2 February 2015 ·
?We were living is South Carolina, the two kids were babies and Brian (husband) had just graduated from dental school. We were on our way to Denver to move there. Dad (Jack) had been fighting cancer for a few years and he was not doing well. I was excited to see him again because he had not seen our youngest son yet (Mason). As we were traveling to Denver, Brian?s parents met up with us. Uncle Ben (brother) was with us helping us move. My mom contacted Brian?s parents and told them that my father had died and they were to get the message to us. We were at a hotel at the time and they let us eat breakfast before they said anything. Afterwards, they sat us down and told us that he had passed away. It made me really upset that he didn?t get to see my son; I burst into tears and clung to my child for comfort. I was shocked. My brother Ben had a feeling that our dad was going to die soon. I remember trying to finish the drive to Denver while trying to console myself by thinking that maybe he could see me and my newborn son from heaven. At the funeral I was shocked at how happy of an event it was. People were taking family pictures and smiling. I refused to go to the viewing because I figured that if he couldn?t stay alive long enough for me to see him before he died, I was not supposed to see him after he had passed.? | Tullis, Jack Duane (I3194)

Iowa was born in Beaver, Utah.
He went by the name of Jeff. His family moved to an area that they named Dry Fork. Jeff was a hard worker. He hauled timber from the mountains near Dry Fork. He decided that he wanted to be a sheep herder. As a result he spent many months alone in the mountains with his sheep dog, living in a sheep trailer. He was a friend to all, including many famous outlaws & the Indians. He built their 1st home, which was a 1 room log house with a dirt roof located on the banks of dry Creek. He also hauled coal, trained horses & groomed horses. He never owned a car. They grew vegetables & fruit & lived off the land. My mother loved to visit him at the sheep camp. I remember as a boy his stories about the outlaws & Indians. I didn't know if they were real but they were. When we stayed at their house, we slept in the loft of the home. It was an exciting adventure.

Irving Bodily killed in Castle Gate Accident. Vernal Called to Mourn The Loss Of Four Of Her Citizens In Mine Catastrophe.
In what will go down in history as one of the major mine accidents of the country. Vernal loses four of her citizens Saturday when the Castle Gate No. 2 mine owned by the Utah Fuel Company was blown up by three terrific explosions and 175 lives snuffed out.
The first explosion occurred about 8:00 o'clock Saturday morning and with such force as to hurl the iron door of the mine one half mile across the canyon and timers as far as a mile away, sending the entire concrete front far out. The 18 foot entrance was enlarged to a 50 foot hole.
The cause of the explosion will never definitely be known as there will probably not be a survivor of all who were in the mine. Nearly every one of the victims are married men. There are seven fathers and their sons who perished in the mine.
Besides J. Irving Bodily from Vernal there are O. E. Sander and two sons, who are well known in the Ashley valley having worked for several years at the Pack-Allan coal mine here. Having no relatives here they will not be brought home for burial.
The remains of Bodily were found at 11 o'clock Tuesday night and arrived home Thursday evening. His wife, a Miss Smith, he married after going to Castle Gate to work shortly after arriving home from a mission. Mrs. Bodily also lost two brothers in the disaster all her living male relatives in America, as she is a native of England. Mr. Bodily had been working there for about two years.
Word has been received from Joseph Bodily, the father, who is now in California, that he would arrive for the funeral. He is there for the health of one of his sons and notice had not reached him at first. The time of the funeral which will be held in the Maeser Ward Chapel, cannot be determined until it is known when Mr. Bodily will arrive which will be probably some time Sunday or Monday.
