  	Headstone list death date as 26 February 1826 - 57y8m13d. There is a possibility this headstone was erected many years after his death - possibly around the death of his wife Mary in 1864. St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery Burial Records show Henry W. Grow died 26 February 1826. Henry Grow reported that his father died 26 Feb 1826 in Pa when Henry stood as proxy for his father during baptism of the dead in 1843.

Joseph Price in his diary recorded the following: "Feb 12 1826 wind W fine Clear morn not froze but very Little Obe & Jos of[f] & attended the funeral to our yard Got up about 10 O'C Buried before Meeting I walk to the yard Jos. attended the Burial of Henry Grow from flat Rock to dutch Church He keep Tavern ther[e] Been Sick but 4 or 5 days." This burial date establishes that the death date would have been before 12 Feb 1826 instead of the 26 Feb 1826 date.

  In August 15, 1840 the prophet Joseph Smith announced the practice of baptism for the dead. They performed these baptisms in the Mississippi river. Henry Grow, Jr. stood in as proxy for his father Henry Grow, Sr. Henry reported his fathers birthdate as 13 June 1768 in Lower Merion, Montgomery, Pennsylvania, married to Mary Riter 1804 in PA and died 26 Feb 1826 in PA.
