Interview of Dina Day about her father Jack Tullis

?We were living is South Carolina, the two kids were babies and Brian (husband) had just graduated from dental school. We were on our way to Denver to move there. Dad (Jack) had been fighting cancer for a few years and he was not doing well. I was excited to see him again because he had not seen our youngest son yet (Mason). As we were traveling to Denver, Brian?s parents met up with us. Uncle Ben (brother) was with us helping us move. My mom contacted Brian?s parents and told them that my father had died and they were to get the message to us. We were at a hotel at the time and they let us eat breakfast before they said anything. Afterwards, they sat us down and told us that he had passed away. It made me really upset that he didn?t get to see my son; I burst into tears and clung to my child for comfort. I was shocked. My brother Ben had a feeling that our dad was going to die soon. I remember trying to finish the drive to Denver while trying to console myself by thinking that maybe he could see me and my newborn son from heaven. At the funeral I was shocked at how happy of an event it was. People were taking family pictures and smiling. I refused to go to the viewing because I figured that if he couldn?t stay alive long enough for me to see him before he died, I was not supposed to see him after he had passed.?
