Eunice Scott Robles, 67, longtime Pocatello resident, passed away on Monday November 4, 2013 at Portneuf Medical Center with a room full of family at her side. Eunice was born on July 23, 1946 in Malad, Idaho to Walter and Jiammia Scott of Stone, Idaho. She grew up on the farm in Stone, Idaho and graduated from Malad High School in 1964.
Eunice and her twin sister Janice worked and played hard on the farm. The two of them found mischief and fun wherever they were. They were inseperable throughout their childhood and spent as much time as possible together as adults until the passing of Janice in October of 1976. Her childhood on the farm was filled with hard work and countless hours of playing and riding horses with her siblings and cousins. Later, she found sports and fell in love with softball. Few males could do better than Eunice at hitting or fielding a ball.
A couple years out of High School, Eunice met Harry Smith from American Falls, Idaho. They were married on November 11, 1967. Soon after, the young couple purchased a home in American Falls and together they had 3 children; Doyle, Tamara and Charles. After many years together they divorced.
Later Eunice met Frank Robles from Pocatello, Idaho and on June 27, 1992 they were married. She enjoyed spending time with Frank's family and traveling to Texas and Mexico. Years later, they parted ways and were divorced.
Throughout her life, Eunice worked at several jobs, from building furniture at La-Z-Boy to cooking at USU. Overall, I think her favorite job which also happened to be her last, was as a caregiver for people with disabilities.
The last several years, Eunice has lived at Pocatello Care and Rehab where she was loved and will be missed by staff and other residents.
She is survived by 3 children; Doyle Smith of American Falls, Idaho, Tamara (Mike) Jablonski of Pocatello, Idaho and Charles (Michelle) Smith of American Falls, Idaho. 8 grandchildren; Stetson (Sarah), Lance, Weston (Ashleen), Brittany (Armando), Kristina, Jareth, Brookelynn and C.D. 8 great grandchildren; Angela, Anika, Kayleb, Vanessa, Iradessa, Isaac, Karessa and W. Trent. 3 sisters; Lenna Roe of Stone, Idaho, Karen Cutler of Ogden,Utah, Myrna (Monte) Call of Malad, Idaho and 2 brothers; Neal (Annette) Scott of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Brent Scott of Stone, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, and twin sister Janice Durfee. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Holbrook LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. -12:45 p.m. at the chruch prior to the service. EZRA MERKLEY DIES A VICTIM OF THE INFLUENZA DISEASE.
Ezra Merkley, one of the best known residents of this city, died at his home Saturday evening [18 January 1919] shortly after 11 o'clock as a result of pneumonia, superinduced by heart failure. He had been ill, but a week, and his death will be received by his many friends with sincere regret. Having been afflicted with heart trouble more or less throughout his life, he proved to be an easy victim to the dreaded influenza pneumonia. He is survived by a widow and three young children..
Mr. Merkley was born in Vernal 31 years ago last September and is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Merkley of this city. He has always made his home here and has been one of the stalwart members of the community, and an ardent member of the "Mormon" church. He was the bookkeeper at the Ashley Co-operative company for some time and was an untiring worker, giving the best there was in him..
Brief funeral services will be held at the city cemetery Monday afternoon [20 January 1919] with but members of the family present, due to the Influenza quarantine..

Fairview School was located at 56-58 (?) Fairview Rd., Penn Valley. There was a school on this site before 1834, which is the Union Sunday School building of today. For over 50 years, public school occurred in the existing structure, while on the weekends the building was a Union Sunday School.
