Woman Pioneer of Three States is Laid to Rest
AMMON, IDA., Feb 4.--Following services in Ogden, the body of Mrs. Esther Coffin Grow was brought here where a funeral was held at the Ammon ward chapel. Bishop Leonard Ball presided and made the closing remarks. Other speakers were Ephraim Empey, John Empey and James Southwick. The ward choir furnished the music. Interment was in the Ammon Cemetery.
Mrs. Grow was born in Wayne county, Indiana, Aug. 15, 1844. The family moved to Illinois and thence to Council Bluffs, Ia. where her father died. She and her mother crossed the plains in 1852, locating on the corner of Twenty-fourth and Waltreets in Ogden, remaining there until 1860 when they went to Huntsville. She was married to William Grow in 1865 and two years later they moved to Albany Ore. where they resided four years. They then came to Ammon where they have resided since.
Besides her husband she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Abbie Owen Hyde, Jesse and Charles Grow, Idaho Falls; William Grow, Jr., Willistown, N.D.; Horace Grow, Roberts; James Grow and Mrs. Effie Poulter, Ogden, Utah and also 39 gdchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

WOODS CROSS, Utah--Mona LaVica Haws Haacke, age 92, passed away January 27, 1999 at a nursing home in Orem, Utah. Born June 13, 1906 in Tremonton, Utah to John Kimble and Alice Florilla Haws. Married Leland Paul Haacke in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, September 15, 1927. He preceded her in death.She was a member of the Eutaw Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Woods Cross. She was an active member of the LDS Church serving in Stake Relief Society, YWMIA, Primary and choir. She was employed by Davis County School District and Lakeview Hospital. Survived by her children, Verl (Montez) of St. George, UT., Kent of Orem, UT., Clyde (Rosida), of Sugar City, ID., Lani (Bonnie) of Orem, UT. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by one grandchild and five sisters and three brothers. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 30, 1999, 1 p.m., at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main (Bountiful), where friends may call from 11:45 to 12:45 prior to services.
