Location of Bingham's Fort Utah Territory

Settlers in the area built Bingham’s Fort under the direction of Bishop Erastus Bingham and lived there from 1853 to 1856. The population of the fort was about 600 people, the largest fort in Weber County. The Bingham’s Fort residents petitioned to separate themselves from Ogden City so that they did not have to pay heavy taxes to build Ogden and also build a fort themselves without assistance; the petition failed.
