- Leon A. Hansen passed away peacefully Sept. 12, 2012, in Logan, Utah, from respiratory complications. Leon was born to Albin and Lyda Ecker Hansen on March 10, 1928, in Heber City, Utah. He married the love of his life, Betty Jean Miller, on Aug. 24, 1955. At the time of his passing, they had been married 57 years.
Leon served as a staff sergeant in the Army and graduated from the University of Utah with a master's degree in mineralogy. His greatest passion was his life's work as a hard rock geologist for mining companies and as a self-employed geologic consultant. He took great pride in his accomplishments in the mining field. He was a man of strong feelings and beliefs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gale and son Erik. He is survived by his wife Betty; daughter Katrina Kirk (Lee); three grandsons, Daniel, Nathan and Alex; great-grandson Jayden; siblings Margaret Lucas, Doris Pritchett, Lynn Miller (Dorothy), Mike Miller and Linda Gee (Ron) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Leon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and he will be missed greatly by all of us.
Memorial Services will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the North Logan 5th Ward, 2750 N. 800 East in Logan, under the direction of Serenicare Funeral Home of Providence, Utah.
