    • LAURA BENNETT
      1939 - 2013
POCATELLO-Laura Naomi Scott Bennett of Pocatello, joined her parents in heaven on May 11, 2013 at Portneuf Medical Center following a brief illness. Laura was born October 6, 1939 in Malad, Oneida County, Idaho to George Milton Scott and Naomi Roderick.
Her mother passed away shortly after her birth and she was raised by her daddy, until he too, passed away while she was yet a young girl. As the youngest child of 10, her older brothers and sisters finished raising her.
Laura attended school in Malad, Idaho graduating from Jr. High School and later received her GED certificate. Upon her marriage she lived her remaining years in Pocatello.
Laura married Clell G. Bennett in Pleasant View, Oneida County, Idaho on September 15, 1956. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple October 6, 1967. They have been married 57 years. Together they had four children; Laurinda N. Bennett of Los Alamos, NM, Kay (Mike) Gardner of Blackfoot, Julie A. Bennett, of Pocatello, and Clell Jr. - Ben, (Joyce), of Boise.
Laura was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She spent many years in the Primary Organization, and loved spending time with the children. She has also served in the Relief Society and enjoyed the association with the sisters she served. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers as well. Clell and Laura were able to serve in the Idaho Falls Temple, which brought great joy to her.
When her children were young, Laura worked at Alvord's Café. After her children were grown, she also worked as an election clerk & absentee election clerk. Laura really liked the work and meeting the many different people. She spent one summer conducting a statistical survey for Idaho Transportation Department. She became an accomplished cake decorator and made many beautiful wedding & other decorated cakes.
Most of her life's work was being a stay at home mom, and homemaker, which she really loved. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and was always joking with her loved ones. Laura loved to go camping, fishing, and hunting with family and friends. Since Clell retired, they have traveled to Arizona several years in the winter. Laura really relished traveling and seeing new places. Several years ago, they fulfilled her life-long dream of a trip to Hawaii, which she never stopped smiling about. A life long hobby was collecting salt & pepper shakers. Laura's first priority in life was to take care of her family, her extended family and others. She was a caretaker for her brother Rodney for many years. Many lives have been touched and enriched by her cooking, kindness and compassion. Her family was her joy. She loved them and spent many hours doing things to make them happy.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ella & Vella Scott, and Althea Buckley; and brothers George Scott, Larry Scott, and Rodney Scott. She is survived by her husband, Clell Bennett, her four children, fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandkids. She is also survived by sisters Lila (Bill) Moss, Josephine May and brother Khalil (Patsy) Scott all of Malad, ID.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the kindness and the care by the nurses and staff at the hospital. Their professional and compassionate care will not be forgotten.
