  	Our beloved mother, Donna Valerie Scott Lawyer, 70, of Pleasant Grove, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her children, on July 3, 2015. Donna was born September 24, 1944 to Rulon Stephen Scott II and Viola Gwendolyn Sorensen Scott in Los Angeles, California. Donna was the youngest of four children and grew up primarily in Southern California. She graduated from Pasadena High School and attended Brigham Young University, where she met and married Michael Bruce Lawyer. Donna and Mike had 9 children, 8 of whom they raised to adulthood. The places they lived include Provo, Bountiful, North Salt Lake, Orem, and Pleasant Grove, Utah; Elysian Park and Canyon Country, California; and Arvada, Colorado. Donna loved serving in the LDS Church, including callings as a Ward Primary President, Stake Relief Society Secretary, Compassionate Service Leader, Relief Society Spiritual Living Teacher, Activity Day Leader, Cub Scout Leader, and Mia Maid Advisor. In their later years, Donna and Mike had the blessing of serving two missions together ? one in the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission, and the other in the Family and Church History Headquarters Mission. Toward the end of their second mission, Mike fell ill, and while they were able to complete their mission, Mike was admitted to the hospital just a few days after their release, where he passed away just two weeks later in 2012. Our mother was selfless, soft-spoken, and patient. She always had a listening ear and a caring heart for whatever burden we needed lifted. She had a deep love of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, was a patriot who loved her country and taught us by example to love truth and liberty. We will miss her dearly, but rejoice that she has been reunited with her dear husband and son, Matthew. Donna is survived by her sisters Joan Roberts (Jim) and Carol Giffin (Dale); her step-brother Richard Scott (Janice); her sister-in-law Judy Lamppu; and by her children Sheri Lynn Lawyer Peterson, Michael Bruce Lawyer II (Becky), David Christian Lawyer, Stephen Scott Lawyer (Muriel), Daniel Craig Lawyer (Kim), Benjamin Joseph Lawyer (Jeanne), Kathryn Elayne Lawyer Morris (Ron), and James Andrew Lawyer (Katie), 29 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents; step-mother Faye C. Scott; brother R. Stephen Scott III; son Matthew Carter Lawyer; and son-in-law Clayton Dean Peterson. A viewing for family and friends will be held Sunday evening, July 5, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 S 300 E, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015, at 11:00 am in the Pleasant Grove Garden Stake Center, 1028 W 1000 N, Pleasant Grove, Utah with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com. We would like give our heartfelt thanks to the staff of First Choice Hospice, Dr. Nobuhara and associates, Dr. Groves? staff, the University of Utah Hospital neurologists and staff, and the Timpanogos Hospital ER doctors, nurses, and staff for their skilled and compassionate medical care, and the Garden 7th Ward for the many meals and support provided over the past two months.
