"The Story of Mary Donal Bruce Burton, by her Daughter-in-Law Mildred W. Burton, Written in 1953" "Page 10", "Fred and Mary Burton adopted a little girl, seven years old, whose mother had died. This was Thelma who grew up in the Burton home as one of their own. Later Thelma had a son, which Ma Burton kept until he was six." I have spoken with my Great-Aunt, Janet Ann (Burton) Fullmer, who new Thelma and who visited her at Fred and Mary's home on several occasions. She has stated that Fred and Mary "adopted" Thelma, and raised her as one of their own, But she has never seen any paperwork to prove that she was officially adopted.
