Allen, Alanson David, a Utah pioneer of 1847, was born May 2, 1829, in the State Vermont, the son of Albern and Marcia Allen. He joined the Church when a boy and migrated to the West, together with his mother, his father having gone to California with the Mormon Battalion. He met Alanson and his mother in G. S. L. Valley in the fall of 1847. Alanson D. was ordained an Elder and subsequently a Seventy; he held the latter office at the time of his death. In 1850 he married Christine Hadlock, who was born April 2, 1828. By her he became the father of fourteen children. In the seventies, at the time of the John D. Lee trials, Brother Allen filled a short mission to Independence, Missouri, to settle difficulties and disputes. He died in March, 1888.
