Former longtime Angels Camp resident Elaine V. Baratono died Thursday at an International Falls, Minn., care center. She was 89.
She was born in Salt Lake City to Melvin and Lena (Rocheleau) Grow. She attended schools in Salt Lake City and Oakland. In 1947, she married George E. Baratono. Until they moved to International Falls in 2001, they lived in Angels Camp where she worked for many years for the Carpenters Union and as a court clerk.
She was a member of Soroptimists International and Eastern Star.
Her family said she enjoyed traveling, fishing, spending time on the houseboat and hosting big holiday get-togethers for family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, George of International Falls; two daughters, Noreen Huberty of Mokelumne Hill and Sharon Fleming of Murphys; a son, Nolan Baratono of International Falls; a sister, Vera Maxie of Seattle; grandchildren, Rene Nevarez of Lincoln, Placer County, Christopher Airola of Loomis, Placer County, Diane Andrews of Penryn, Placer County, Matthew Fleming of Murphys, Jared Baratono of Bemidji, Minn., and Seth Baratono of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin "Bud" Grow.
No services are planned.

Elaine V. Baratono of International Falls, Minn., a former Angels Camp resident, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Falls Good Samaritan Center. She was 89.
Mrs. Baratono was born in Salt Lake City and attended schools there and in Oakland, Calif.
In 1947, she married George E. Baratono. Until they moved to International Falls in 2001, they lived in Angels Camp, where she worked for many years for the Carpenters Union and as clerk of the justice court. She was a member of Soroptimists and Eastern Star.
