- Don Grow was born Feb. 10, 1940, in Nampa, to Wesley H. Grow and Janet Price Grow, and grew up in Lewiston.
Don began his career working on the railroad, then moved his family to Newberg, Ore., where he worked as a construction foreman for JC Penney. Tired of traveling, he bought a vending machine business until they became digital. He then returned to working as a foreman for a commercial liquidation company in Portland, Ore., until he retired in 1994, due to rheumatoid arthritis and moved to Dayton, Ore.
Don was Grandpa, Papa and Pop Pop to the many grand- and great-grandchildren who adored him and looked to him as their father figure. He has raised his oldest great-grandchild since he was a baby.
Don was best known for his sarcastic sense of humor. He liked woodworking, working on cars, trying to master new technology and playing slot machine games on his phone.
After a courageous fight to the end, Don lost his battle with lung cancer surrounded by family on June 23, 2014, at the age of 74.
