    • Pioneer Residents Dies on His Way to Cast Ballot

      Sylvester Veach Grow, 83, of 2064 Ogden, died Tuesday evening of a heart attack which he suffered while on his way to the polls to cast a vote. He was about a block from his home.
      FAMOUS FATHER
      Mr. Grow's father, Henry Grow, was an engineering architect and he directed the building of the L.D.S. tabernacle in Salt Lake City, which was completed in 1867.
      Mr. Grow, in recalling early times, said it required two days to make a trip from Huntsville to Ogden and back with use of oxen, hauling grain to the mill and flour back.
      Mr. Grow was born Aug. 29, 1861, in Salt Lake City, a son of Henry and Julia Veach Grow. On Dec. 21, 1880, he married Matilda Ann Smith. She died May 22, 1892. He married Hannah Mickelson in the Salt Lake L.D.S. temple on Jan 29, 1896. Sheed four years ago. He was a member of the L.D.S. church Fourth ward and a high priest of Ogden Stake. He was a game warden for Weber county for many years and served in the legislature in 1911. He was active as a guide for hunters. He had also taken an active part in improving the irrigation facilities of Weber county. He was retired farmer of Huntsville.

      Survivors include seven sons and two daughters, Henry Grow, Mrs. Edgar Johansen and Mrs. C. A. Nix, all of Ogden; Sylvester Grow, Jr., Nevada; Veach C. Grow, Washington D.C.; Parnell M. Grow, Oregon; J. Wayne Grow, Huntsville; Capt. Nevilel Lrow, taken prisoner when Bataan fell, and S. Elmo Grow, San Diego, Calif.; 25 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren..
      The following are brothers and sisters: William Grow, Otto S. Grow, Mark Grow, and Parnell Grow, all of Salt Lake City; George Grow, Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. Sadie Madie.
