  	FLORENCE - Olean Chidester Berry, 80, died June 25, 2007. The funeral will be at the Antioch, Calif., post of Veterans of Foreign Wars, with a graveside service later in Teasdale, Utah. Mrs. Berry was born Oct. 10, 1926 to May F. (Dastrup) and Samuel H. Chidester in Bicknell, Utah, the youngest of six children. She grew up during the Depression and war years on a small farm in southern Utah and was proud of her pioneer her. She was a member of her father's family orchestra during her early years and played at many dances. She graduated from Wayne County High School in 1944 and Snow College with a degree in music in 1946. She could play many instruments, but her favorite was the piano. She wrote to soldiers including her brother Jack. By chance she met Orson Berry, who knew her family, in Salt Lake City, and they later married in Elko, Nev., in 1947. They moved to California and settled in Concord, living there until retirement in 1982. She worked at commercial laundrieser retiring she traveled with her husband, friends and relatives for about a year before buying a home in Florence. She loved her family, bingo, ceramics, knitting, exercising in the pool, dips in the hot tub, the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants and music. She liked to help others. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She helped to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Survivors include two sons, Steve of Concord and Marc of Antioch; a brother, Jack of Riverton, Utah; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years in 1998; a son, Samuel C. Berry, in; and a granddaughter, Chelsea D. Berry, in 1988.
