  	Spokane Daily Chronicle - December 6, 1924 BANK ROBBER SHOT AND KILLED Slain in Pistol Battle Outside Kent Institution - Marshal Wounded SEATTLE Dec 6 - Contiued adversities, lack of work, lack of money and the fact that he was too proud to accept money, even from his wife, caused Lionel Edward Grow, 28, scion of one of Utah's oldest families and great-grandson of the builf the Mormon Tabernacle, Salt Lake City, Utah to attempt to rob the Kent National Bank at Kent Washington of $15,000 yesterday, his widow Virginia, related here today. Grow was killed by the residents of Kent in making his escape with the money while using W. H. Overlook, President of the bank, as a shield. In the pistol duel outside the institution Grow seriously wounded Town Marshal Fred Grant, who tro arrest him. Grow a stranger in Kent and known as an Idle who had been begging for food on the streets for five days, entered the bank and approached President Overlook. Next to Overlook was his son in a cashier's cage. Grow handed the bank officiere informing him that he was "under orders and that failure to obey will mean death by pistol shot or explosion of a vial in my hand". Overlook was requested "to act natural and follow instructions." While Overlook was obeying his son read the note through a glass partition, pressed a button and sounded a burglar alarm. Note: Grow was shot by three different marksmen - Deputy Marshall F. M. Imhof, Lowry Armstong, manager of a Kent Hotel and Peter Andriska, a power company lineman. ____________________________________________________________
