      OREM - May Pexton Burton was born in Nephi, Juab County, Utah to James Dales Pexton and Mary Ellen Grow Pexton on December 9, 1880. Mrs. Burton passed away October 12, 1981, at the home of her son, Alma, Orem, Utah.
      She attended Juab Stake Academy and as a child had the privilege of being present at the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple. She devoted most of her life to her family and in service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving many years as organist and as an officer in the Ward and Stake Relief Society Organizations. She married Thomas Hyrum Burton, January 14, 1903, in the Salt Lake Temple; he passed away August 3, 1931. He was an attorney in Nephi and held positions as Juvenile Judge, Juab County Attorney, Judge of the Fifth Judicial District of Utah and as a representative in the Utah State Legislature.
      Mrs. Burton is survived by five of her six children, Dr. Marcus H. Burton, now retired, a prominent oral surgeon in Washington, D.C. and Salt Lake; Mrs. Glen Worthington (Florence) of Logan; Mrs. Clement F. Hesse (Blanche) of Salt Lake City; Dr. Alma P. Burton, recently retired Professor Emeritus from Brigham Young University; Lee Clark Burton, Assistant Principal of Granite High school in Salt Lake City; another son, Clarence G. (Hy) Burton, passed away in June, 1980. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Nephi Third Ward on Wednesday, October 14, 1981 at 12:30 p.m. Viewing will be at the Anderson Funeral Home in Nephi, Utah two hours prior to the services.
