      Nephi May 24 - James D. Pexton, 92-year-old native of Nephi died Tuesday at 7 a.m. at the home of a daughter Mrs. Eva P. Jones, Murray, of causes incident to age.
      A farmer and blacksmith before his retirement, he observed his 92nd birthday May 9 in Murray.
      Born May 9, 1857, he was a son of James and Hannah Parrott Pexton. He married May Ellen Grow July 18, 1876 in the Salt Lake Endowment house, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She died in 1937.
      As a young man Mr. Pexton carried freight into Nevada, and when he was 17 acted as an escort for Brigham young through Salt Creek canyon into Sanpete county.
      He had been a member of Nephi City council for three terms and part of a fourth. He was a member of Nephi North L.D.S. ward bishopric for 12 years and was a high priest in Juab LDS stake at the time of his death.
      Surviving besides Mrs. Jones, are three daughters. Mrs. May Burton, Mrs. Lilly Wright and Mrs. Kate Burton, Nephi; a brother H. P. Pexton, Los Angeles, Cal.; 14 grandchidren and 31 great-grandchildren.
