Married:
- Dateline 31 Jan 1927
Following up a tip that a young Ogden Valley couple eloped yesterday we announce the marriage of Elaine Grow, age 17, Huntsville and Otis Leland Fuller, age 21, from Eden.
In an exclusive interview with the young bride, affectionately known as Nane (N?´n?), and Otis, the groom, also known as Ott, we learned the following details:
"I became acquainted with the Eden boys when we were fifteen. They would come over in an old Model T and wait by the church gate till we came out. It was really romantic. We'd drive around and sometimes stop in at the ice cream parlor for a soda. It usually fell my lot to sit on Ott Fuller's lap. He would squeeze me so tight I could hardly breath.
I went to dances which were held on Saturday nights and as Ott was a good dancer we won a few prizes. Yesterday we decided to elope. He borrowed five dollars to buy my ring. We went to Farmington which seemed a long way away. We had to buy a pot roast for Chloe's Sunday dinner and had a flat tire on the way home. We bought a hamburger and root beer and called it our wedding. I hid my ring and was going to tell all about it in a year, but today the license came out in the newspaper. My aunt called Ma and told her about it."
Ott added, his heart was captured by her beautiful long eyelashes. We wish you well.
Dateline: 21 March 1928
Otis and Elaine Fuller were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple today by Joseph Fielding Smith.
Dateline: August 1, 1928
A year and a half ago we interviewed a young newly married couple. Today we saw the little lady rocking on her front porch obviously near the arrival of a little one. She told us she spends many days rocking while Ott works long hours at the barber shop. She cries and eats turnips while she watches her former schoolmates having fun.
She and Ott returned to the Valley last year after living in Salt Lake City where Ott attended barber college and she worked as a housekeeper. She confided, "We lived on grapes and fried potatoes while in Salt Lake. Couldn't seem to find much to cook. Had to learn the hard way."
Dateline 16 August 1928
Flash! A 10 bound baby boy was delivered today to Otis and Elaine Fuller. Those turnips did the trick.
Dateline 28 February 1932
Today, a baby girl was born to Otis and Elaine Fuller. Her three year old brother, Kay, remarked when asked what his sister's name would be, "Mickey, cause she looks like Mickey Mouse." They named her Audrey Lynette but Mickey stuck. So much for turnips.
Dateline: 28 March 1935
Another little girl arrived at the Fuller home today. Her brother, Kay, now six years old, told us, "I hate turnips." The family plans to name her Sharon Elaine.
It's been nice bringing you one family's news. We'll keep you posted on their progress and Elaine's cooking abilities.
Signing off for now.
