Vernal Gun and Rifle Club Elects Milton Hacking President for the Coming Year.
At the regular annual election of the Vernal Gun and Rifle Club held on Monday evening the following officers were chosen: Milton Hacking, President; Bus Hatch, Vice President; H. B. Millecam, secretary and treasurer; Sheriff J. Emery Johnson was chosen director to represent the Vernal district. One director each to represent the Lapoint-Whiterocks, Fort Duchesne-Ouray and Jensen districts wil be chosen in the immediate future. Together with the officers whose four will constitute the board of directors.
The legislative committee of 1930 will continue to serve as such throughout the current year, as the members are familiar with duties and will present a schedule of endorsements of interest to sportsmen to the current session of the legislature. Other committees will be appointed by the board of directors. The program for activities of the club during the years will be completed at an early date.
In recognition of his constant interest in sportsmanship and in the propagation and conservation of wild game in Utah Governor George H. Dern was enrolled as honorary member of the club.
The Vernal Gun and Rifle Club was founded in 1893 and serveral charter members have retained membership uninterruptedly to this day. At present the club has a membership of 300 and efforts will be made to increase this to 500 before the end of the year. The club is affiliated with the National Rifle Association, the Utah State Sportsmen's Association and the Uintah County Sportsmen's Association. Since its organization the club has steadfastly maintained activities in behalf of the betterment of wild game propagation and conservation and in all matters affecting betterment of outdoor conditions especially in advocating recreation areas in the Uintah Basin.
