Lorin Clive Hacking, 71, passed away July 31, 2001 at his home in Vernal. He was born Nov. 29, 1929 in Vernal, a son of Iowa Clive and Lucy Smith Hacking. He married his sweetheart, Iris Rae Swain on Feb. 4, 1948 in Salt Lake City.
Lorin worked as a lineman for Utah Power and Light. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the time of his death, he was serving as 1st Counselor in the Glines Care Center Branch Presidency.
Lorin was a member of the Jeep Posse for many years. He and his wife were counselors in the Indian Placement program. He was also an active part of the scouting organization. He and his wife established the Vernal Dry Pack Cannery.
He has been a faithful temple worker since the temple opened. He was gentle and a very kind man. He will be missed and is loved by all.
Lorin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Iris Rae Hacking; daughter, Ann Poff, Salt Lake City; son, Cole (DeAnn) Clive Hacking, Vernal; grandchildren, Jessie Poff, Aaron Poff, Amy Poff, Cassie Poff, John Poff, Lela Hacking, Thayne Hacking, Tanille Hacking, Travis Hacking; and great granddaughter, Gracy Hacking.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 3 at 11 a.m. in the Maeser Stake Center, 1500 West 2575 North. Friends may call at Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday at the chapel one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
