Born August 30, 1905 in Vernal, son of John Sampson and Mary Elizabeth Hall Hacking. Married Lucy Smith, November 17, 1926 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Member of the Ashley 2nd Ward, active in scouting and musical programs.

Survived by wife, sons and daughters, Lorin Hacking, Vernal; Mrs. Richard (Gayla) Duke, Tempe, Arizona; Meldon Hacking, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Bob (Lela) VanDuren, Spanish Fork; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother and sister, John Clyde Hacking, Mrs. Jenny Hatch.

Funeral services, Tuesday, May 8, 11 a.m. at the Ashley 2nd Ward Chapel. Friends may call Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Thomson Vernal Mortuary. Burial, Mesa Fairview Cemetery.
