George T. Baxter, son of George and Isabella Baxter, was born in 1885. He married Alice Huchinson (adopted daughter of Luke and Sylvia [Webster] Huchinson). They were the parents of 4 children: Cecil, Aiylene, Donald, and Richard (he passed away at the age of 20).

Alice and George started farming at a place one mile east of Ayrshire, Iowa that was owned by George Baxter Sr. The house was an old split level with the stairs out of doors. There was a ladder on the inside to get to the upper story. George built a new house later but sold this farm in 1912.

Alice and George then moved to a farm one mile north and two miles west of Ayrshire. This farm was almost all virgin prairie. George Sr. built a complete set of buildings here.

They planted a windbreak by plowing a furrow and laying an 18-inch willow stick every six feet. They also planted a couple of rows of box elders in like manner.

Alice was killed in a car accident about 1937.

George was a helpful neighbor. If there happened to be a death in the family he'd be there to help do chores and he dug many graves without pay. He knew the lots in the cemetery well.
