George LeRoy DeLand, 94, died July 10, 1998 at his home in Rogue River, Oregon.
Born February 1, 1904 in Hunter Utah, son of Royal Bishop and Ruby Worthen DeLand. He began working at Bingham Copper Mine at age 15. He was a pattern maker and worked at North American and other aircraft companies in California to Rogue River, Oregon.Married Dora Simpson January 13, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah; she died October 22, 1927 leaving him with a one day old son, Gail and a year old son, George Ronald. Married Winifred Lillian Griffith July 28, 1928 in Long Beach, California; they were sealed in the Oakland LDS Temple June 15, 1979.
Survived by his wife, Lillian; sons, George Ronald (Virginia), Yorba Linda, California; Richard L. (Carol), West Jordan, Utah; daughter, DeOnne (Louis) Grimmer, Salem, Oregon; brother, Roy DeLand, Rogue River, Oregon; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter, Arlene Vial; son Gail.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 14, in Grants Pass, Oregon. Graveside service will be held Thursday, July 16, 10 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, under the direction of McDougal West Jordan Mortuary.
