PRESTON - Emma Scott Palmer, 97, passed away Feb. 11, 2009, in Fallon, Nev. She was born Feb. 24, 1911, in Salt Lake City, Utah, one of six children born to George Grow and Sarah Wilkinson Miles Scott. When she was little, they moved to Black Pine, Idaho (by Malad), to homestead, but when that didn't work out, they moved to Holbrook, where she lived until she met her husband. She married James William Palmer on Nov. 21, 1934, in the Logan LDS Temple. They settled in Preston, where she lived until 2003 when she moved to live with her son Brett in Fernley, Nev.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in various callings throughout her life. She had a very strong testimony of the Gospel, which she shared with everyone. One of her favorite callings was with compassionate service. She loved to visit with people and to be able help them out when needed. She had many hobbies including crocheting and quilting and she loved attending quilting bees. She enjoyed baking and was known for taking loaves of homemade bread to neighbors and friends who were sick of going through a rough time. Emma was a very compassionate and loving person and will be greatly missed.

Emma is survived by her children, Brett G. (Lynette) Palmer, of Fernley, Nev., and Martha R. (Gary) Farnsworth, of Manti, Utah; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
